I have tested this on the following:

Ubuntu 9.04 (GNOME)
Ubuntu 9.10 (GNOME)

Please tell me If it has worked out on another version/DE.

After about 2 or 3 years away from Linux, I busted it back out when my free trial of Windows 7 expired. The first problem I ran into, as many do, is getting the wireless LAN to work. I didn't find a thread relating to this exact laptop, and had to do a bit of research of my own to find the answer, so I figured I'd post a quick howto for anyone else running into this problem.

The Ubuntu developers are moving quickly to bring you the absolute latest and greatest software the Open Source community has to offer. The Lucid Lynx Alpha 3 is the third alpha release of Ubuntu 10.04, bringing with it the earliest new features for the next version of Ubuntu.

I looked around for a tutorial on this but couldn't find one. So I wrote this myself. This setup worked for me. Hope it works for you too. Let me know if you face any issues.

UBUNTU PXE BOOT INSTALLATION

Ubuntu is usually installed on a system using a Live CD. Another method of installing it is over the network! PXE stands for Preboot eXecution Environment which is an environment for booting the Ubuntu installer off the network.

We had an OP who had gotten a little carried away with removing old kernels via Synaptic .. Yeah, you're well ahead of me on this one

Took a little while, and a couple of attempts.. But, this works.. As just as it was written, we had another OP who'd aborted an upgrade to Media after installing the RT kernel, they got his 'normal' kernel back as well. May help someone else

In our previous tutorial we showed how you to access the iPhone & iPod touch OS 3.x filesystem and read/write to its music database using iFuse and by compiling our own libgpod4.
