Howto install Go-Oo 3.0.x (OpenOffice.org fork) in Ubuntu

Submitted by k4tz on Wed, 01/07/2009 - 11:39

Question:

Go-oo is a openoffice.org fork with more features.

Quote:
Go-oo has built in OpenXML import filters and it will import your Microsoft Works files. Compared with up-stream OO.o, it has better Microsoft binary file support (with eg. fields support), and it will import WordPerfect graphics beautifully. If you are reliant on Excel VBA macros - then Go-oo offers the best macro fidelity too. If you expect your spreadsheets to calculate compatibly, or you get embedded Visio diagrams in your documents, you'll want Go-oo.

I was trying today to install the latest 3.0.x (development version) from Go-oo. It's only in rpm so I converted it with alien. But one package fails to install.
Has anyone got Go-Oo 3.0-20080520 installed on ubuntu? Please tell how.
Go-oo package am talking about can be found here.

OpenOffice startup covering entire screen

Question:

Hi, I think this is the right part of the forum, but after not posting for so long, I could be wrong.

Ok, here's my problem. Whenever I start up OpenOffice (Version 2.4.1) it covers my entire screen. This is really annoying and I don't know which setting to change in order to ensure that this doesn't happen on *every* start up. I can easily go to View -> Full Screen, etc. but this gets old very quickly. Any suggestions?
